They go by different names (Oxford House ™, sober home, sober living, halfway house, etc.), and their history can be traced back to the mid-1800s1. “Transitional” Recovery Housing refers to safe, healthy and substance-free living environments that support individuals in recovery from addiction.

What to do if you dont have an address?

  1. Rent a P.O. Box. Head down to your local post office and rent a post office box.
  2. Use your work address. If you have a day job with an office, talk to your employer about using the office address.
  3. Ask a friend with a business.
  4. Head to a UPS Store.
  5. Try your co-working space.

Recovery residences are free from alcohol and other substances and are a common pathway used to transition back into the community following residential treatment. CCAPP represents the social model approach to recovery and has actively supported residential recovery for over 30 years. CCAPP has a long history of excellence in providing training, technical assistance, and advocacy for programs throughout California. CCAPP is the only organization recognized by California’s Department of Health Care Services as providing certification for recovery residences. NUWAY Recovery Foundationprovides recovery residence support up to $550.00 per month toward program fees at a Recovery Residence partner for clients assessed as needing of safe, sober living environment while engaged in intensive outpatient treatment at NUWAY®. Deposit and any difference beyond $550.00 in monthly program fees are the responsibility of the client.

The Recovery House

WVARR will publish a directory of certified residences to help you learn more about the options available or to find specific information, like whom to contact, how to pay, and what kind of services the home provides. We manage the ethical and safety standards for recovery residences in the State of Maine and certify residences based on the standards established by NARR. Providing direct connections to other peers in recovery, mutual support groups, and recovery support services. This learning/living community is the newest offering within the University’s comprehensive collegiate recovery program and will be staffed and supported by University personnel with deep expertise in collegiate recovery. Level 3 residences offer a paid staff supportive environment that offers life skills training and peer-based recovery supports. ‌ California recovery residences are very much like a “home away from home.” All of the residents are involved in recovery. As a group, residents work together, using the skills they have learned while in treatment to support each other in the early stages of sobriety. This creates accountability, friendships, and dedication to a life of recovery.
